Hot Mama:

Dyed My Ends This Week|Clairol Textures & Tones Product Review

Let me be honest with you guys, these last few months have been rough. I felt like I was losing myself. Lately I have been craving for a change in my appearance. I was just looking like I gave up on myself. My wardrobe is horrendous, most of my sneakers are all beat up, and my hair has been a hot mess.

In April 2017, I dyed my hair and it made me feel alive! Being that it is a whole year later, my dye job was looking horrific. Over the weekend, I decided that it was time to dye my hair again.

Before having my daughter, I used to love to spice up my look! Cut my hair, dye my hair, try so many styles. It was fun and made me feel amazing. It gave me a thrill.

After I had my daughter it’s like my style completely crawled under a rock and stayed there.

Now… I am fed up! So now, I am on a mission to get my groove back!

This was just phase one!

On Tuesday I went to the local family dollar… I literally went crazy in there! (But, that’s besides the point. Hehehe.)

I purchased a box of my favorite hair dye, the Clairol: Textures & Tones in Shade 6G, HONEY BLONDE.

Here is a picture of the product:

What’s in the box?

Inside of the box:

  1. A pair of gloves
  2. A Conditioner
  3. Very detailed instructions
  4. A booster packet to enhance the color (For my dark haired sisters, like myself)
  5. The mixing solution
  6. The mixing the bottle (You’ll use to mix the solution  and whatever solution is inside of the bottle already.)

Here is a photo of my hair before applying the hair dye:

So, let’s fast forward…

I followed all of the instructions that came inside of the box. These instructions were crystal clear. As opposed to my experience with the Clairol Professional Jazzing semi permanent hair dye, this experience was so much better. I actually enjoy this permanent hair dye, I’ve purchased it several times in the past.

How To Apply:

Step 1:

Part your natural hair in sections.

Step 2:

Apply vaseline to your forehead, your neck, behind your ears, and eyebrows. (Why? You should do this to protect your skin from the solution. Although this product does not contain strong chemicals, it still has some type of chemical in it that may not react well to your skin.)

Step 3:

Now apply the solution. You can do it the way the instructions tell you or you can freestyle like me. The freestyle method I use is called the “all over method.”

Step 4:

You can either cover your hair with a plastic shower cap, plastic bag (which is a great alternative to the plastic shower cap), or you can leave your hair uncovered. (Tip: It does not matter if you leave your hair out and uncovered, your hair dye will still process.)

I thought I was cute! The solution was still in my hair

The photos above were taken while I had the solution in my hair for approximately 30 minutes. In the instructions, it stated that if you were natural then you should leave the hair dye solution in your hair for up to 30 minutes.

Step 5:

Wash the solution out of your hair with whatever shampoo you have. I used a Shea Moisture shampoo simply because I love the way their shampoo smells and makes my hair feel baby soft.

Step 6:

Condition your hair with the hair conditioner that they provided in the box. The conditioner that is provided in the box is the “Pantene Pro-V Relaxed & Natural Intensive Moisturizing Conditioner.” This conditioner is great for relaxed or natural hair. (It will have the same effect on both types of hair.)

Step 7

Wash the conditioner out of your hair and dry your hair however you want to dry it. (Personally, I mixed this conditioner with a conditioner from Shea Moisture. I will provide photos of how my hair looked afterwards.)

In the end…

My hair looked absolutely amazing! I definitely just needed this change!

It was great, I needed to feel and look “hot” again.

OVERALL…

I rate this product a 5 out of 5 stars.

Why?

  • The color was on point
  • This dye does not damage my hair in the process
  • It doesn’t have a harsh smell
  • The packaging is super warm and welcoming
  • My hair was baby soft
  • The instructions were easy to read
  • It included more than enough products

Shall I continue? I literally have all day, this product is just that good!

I highly recommend that you try this product out. It’s great.
